My RTM syncs without any data plan

This is just a curiosity question. I'm using RTM for Android on a MyTouch. I don't have a data plan and am frequently without wifi... and yet RTM still manages to sync wonderfully every time I ask it to. How does this work? Does it sync though the phone's minutes plan? I'm very impressed, but baffled.

Even without a data plan, your mobile provider may provide pay-as-you-go internet, so you may want to check to make sure it's not still connecting. Also, it may be worthwhile to disable mobile data services entirely to ensure RTM only synchronizes over Wi-Fi.
