Way to prevent Tasks sidebar from overlapping

I have encountered the issue of the Tasks sidebar overlapping an opened Gmail email whenever Google code is updated.
I finally noticed a tiny arrow pointing Right about 1/4 way down the right-hand side of the Gmail email window inbetween emails and Tasks that will expand the mail area.
After reading mail, a tiny arrow in the same position pointing Left will restore the Gmail email window to its normal state and Tasks is able to be seen again.
