Yes, you can use i/o to select/open the currently highlighted task. The behavior is subtly different between them:

* i Select Task When on a list, select an task
* o Open Task When in single-pane view, open a task's details

In other words, o will deselect other selected tasks when opening the task.

And now I see those commands on the keyboard shortcuts page in the Help Center. I missed them before because I was looking in the Selection section.
