Can I set my default start screen as a smart list?

I've tried to set the default start screen to "specific list," but the app just starts in the "list" view. It never asks me which list I want to start with.
I want it to start to a smart list I've set up, namely the tasks that are due today. (The "today" list shows all my uncompleted tasks, which take up far too much real estate.) I can get this to work using an internet bookmark, but I'd really like it to work with the app. Thanks for any help you might provide!

Hi benjamin.yost,
The Start Screen setting applies when you open the app from a home screen/Apps screen icon. When resuming the app from the background, it will remain in the same view, and when opening from a list or badge widget the app will open to that specific view.
Hope this helps!
